RE Bunch is a girl, writer, and skeleton with eyes from Chicago, Illinois, who blends elements of magical realism and midwestern gothic to craft macabre tales that horrify and enchant readers. She is a horror fanatic who believes horror is the genre for optimists and those looking for relief. She draws her inspiration from people watching, the occult, art, and the supernatural.

She is best known for her award-winning stories RED HORN (The BookFest 2025) and THE BY-BLOW PROMISE LAND (The BookFest 2024). Additionally, she placed third in Southern New Hampshire University’s 2023 Fall Fiction Contest for her story SLEEPING BEAUTY. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing and English at Southern New Hampshire University. She is also the co-host and co-founder of SLAY THE LAKE, an LGBTQ+ fundraising event organization that promotes queer, women, BIPOC, and differently abled authors and creatives and their allies.

Creativity has always been an outlet for her to process feelings and experiences. Her art and writing are where she is most able to share ideas with others in hopes they may help someone else. Bunch also creates linoleum prints inspired by the same subject matter that inspires her writing. Many of her works explore the supernatural’s influence on the natural world, animals, as well as emotional well-being. She finds the clicking keys of a keyboard comforting and the repetitive motions of linoleum carving meditative.

Bunch is always ready for a good road trip—having driven through 34 US states and 2 Australian states—but prefers not to fly. If you would like her to come to your next bookish event or art exhibition, stand in front of a mirror in a dark room with a lit candle. Say her name three times and then blow out the candle. If you see her face appear behind you just as the light dies, then she’s already there! If you’re standing in the dark for longer than five minutes, please send an email to rhiwritestuff@gmail.com.

Also, tell your dog she says hi.
